ANNEX GALLERY

Location: Antwerp, Belgium

Type: Renovation
Surface: 125 m²
Status: 2021-, in progress

In a former groundfloor warehouse the client, who is an art collector and gallerist, wants to open his second gallery for post-war and contemporary abstract art. The space is now being used as garage and storage and will be converted into an open plan gallery.

With different heights of ceilings and a deep narrow plot, the goal is to create an interesting scenography with changing perspectives in an open and flexible layout. The challenge is to bring natural light into all parts of the space.

The use of industrial elements such as a sectional overhead garage door and raw materials like metal cladding, brick and concrete will create the perfect dialogue with the artworks at display, without being too visually present.
